PRIVATE CLIENT

Tax work that stays between you and one person.

SBZ Tax private client is for entertainment, sports and public figures, and for high-net-worth families and family offices whose affairs should not pass through a front desk. One principal handles the whole engagement, under an NDA if you want one. We never name clients and we never publish case studies.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Two kinds of client, one standard of discretion

Entertainment, sports and public figures

Loan-out corporations, residuals and royalties, endorsement income, per-diem and travel, and income earned in more states than you can remember. Usually with a business manager and an entertainment attorney already in the picture. We work with them, not around them.

High-net-worth families and family offices

Multiple entities, trusts, a property portfolio, a business that may be sold, and children who are starting to earn. You want one person who knows the whole picture and can be reached directly.

Physicians, attorneys, investors and business owners who simply have complicated taxes are served on our Professions we serve page. Private client is about privacy first.

THE ENGAGEMENT

What a private-client year looks like

  1. First conversation

A private call with the principal. We map every entity, every income stream and every state you touched this year, and we agree what stays between us.

  2. Structure review

Loan-out corporation, S-corp, holding LLCs, trusts. We check that the structure you have is still the right one for the income you now earn, and fix it if it is not.

  3. A planning calendar, not a filing date

Quarterly estimates, retirement funding, charitable timing and the tax cost of any deal on the table are handled before the year closes, not after.

  4. Filings

Individual, entity, multi-state and trust returns prepared by the principal, reviewed with you privately, and e-filed from our office.

  5. IRS and FTB, handled for you

Notices, audits and payment plans are answered by us. You hear about them from us, and nobody else hears about them at all.

PRIVATE-CLIENT FAQ

Questions we are asked before the first call

Do you work with celebrities and public figures?

Yes. SBZ Tax works with entertainment, sports and public figures and their business managers. We can work under an NDA, and we never name clients or reference specific engagements.

Will you work with my business manager, attorney or wealth advisor?

Yes, and we prefer it. Most private-client work runs through the team you already have. We take instruction from you and coordinate with them directly so nothing is repeated twice.

Who actually does the work?

The principal. One point of contact for the whole engagement, from the first conversation through the filings and any IRS or FTB correspondence.

Can you handle income from several states or countries?

Yes. Touring, filming, appearance and endorsement income across states is a normal part of the work, and we coordinate with foreign advisors where there is income abroad.

What if I get a letter from the IRS or the Franchise Tax Board?

Send it to us the day it arrives. We respond on your behalf, keep the matter contained, and keep you informed without anything becoming public.

Is there a minimum engagement?

Private-client work is priced per engagement after a first conversation. Ask the principal directly and you will get a plain answer.
